Nokia opens up with Apple
Drakeview : Nokia opens up with Apple:
Macworld is reporting that Nokia and Apple are in cahoots and some future smartphones will incorporate open source browser components from Konqueror, the brains beneath Apple's Safari web browser. According to the article Nokia, Apple partner on web browsers in phones the pair will license products based on the source code and make any improvements or enhancements available to customers.
The browser, to be included in future releases of the Series 60 software, uses two components already employed by Apple Computer Inc. in its Safari Web browser for its Mac OS X operating system.
The components are based on KHTML and KJS, two elements of the open source Konqueror Web browser. Konqueror runs on the K Desktop Environment, open-source software that provides a graphical user interface for the Linux operating system.
